FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQS

Here are a few frequently asked questions to help you get to know me and what I do a little better:

How can counselling help me?

Counselling can help you understand how to manage anxiety or low mood, process grief or trauma, amongst other issues and develop healthier coping strategies. Rather than offering advice, therapy facilitates insight, growth and autonomy.

What issues do you work with?

Clients seek support for anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement, trauma, self-esteem concerns, identity exploration, life transitions, and burnout. You do not need to be in crisis to begin counselling.

What happens in a first session?

The first session is an opportunity to explore what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain. We can discuss your background, current challenges and expectations.

You are also encouraged to ask questions to ensure this is the right fit for you.

How often are sessions?

Sessions are usually every week, particularly at the beginning of therapy.

Regular sessions support continuity and therapeutic growth.

Session frequency can be reviewed as needed.

Is everything confidential?

Confidentiality is fundamental to counselling. Information shared in sessions remains private, with limited exceptions related to safeguarding or legal obligations. These boundaries are explained clearly at the outset.

Do you offer online sessions?

Sessions may be offered online or face to face.

Online counselling provides flexibility while maintaining the same professional and ethical standards.

How do I know if you are the right counsellor for me?

The therapeutic relationship is central to effective counselling.

The initial session allows you to assess whether you feel safe, understood, and respected.

There is no obligation to continue if it does not feel like the right fit.

What are your fees?

The standard fee is £60 per 50 minute session. Fees are reviewed periodically and any changes are discussed in advance. Concessions may be available in limited circumstances and can be discussed during initial contact.

If desired, block bookings for 6, 8, 10 or 12 sessions can be discussed.

Rewind Therapy and E.F.T cost can be discussed if suitable.

How do I pay for sessions?

Payment is usually made by bank transfer and is due prior to the day of the session.

Full payment details are provided once an appointment is confirmed.

Do you offer a free initial consultation?

A brief introductory phone call is available at no charge. This call provides an opportunity to ask questions and consider whether working together feels appropriate before committing to ongoing sessions.

What is your cancellation policy?

At least 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged at the full fee. This policy supports consistency in the therapeutic process and protects reserved appointment times.

What happens if I miss a session?

Missed appointments without notice are charged at the full session fee. If you are unwell or facing exceptional circumstances then please make contact as soon as possible to discuss arrangements.
